Windows 7 has made its debut and Karmic Koala(Ubuntu 9.10) is rearing to make a go. Ubuntu 9.10 is scheduled for a release on October 29. STOP: IE8 Prevent Page Transition

Internet Explorer 8 supports page transition animations that some web developers may apply when entering or exiting a page. These include wipes, blends, and dissolves.

While some may find these animations enjoyable, others may place them in the same class as the blink tag - extremely annoying. Thus if you frequently browse sites that use this feature, the following disables transitions:

1. Access the Internet Options dialog box. If the menu bar is visible, you can select "Tools" - "Internet Options". If the Command Bar is visible, click the "Tools" button and select "Internet Options". If neither are available, try typing Alt + T then O.

2. When the "Internet Options" dialog box appears, click the "Advanced" tab.

3. Underneath "Browsing", scroll down and uncheck "Enable page transitions".

4. Click "OK" to close the dialog box and store your settings.

This only affects Internet Explorer-specific page transitions and does not affect transition animations in Flash or other means.
